A teardown shared on Chinese platform Bilibili today appears to confirm that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X80 modem in particular. The same modem is likely used in the iPhone 17 Pro and regular iPhone 17.
iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to use Apple's custom C2 modem.Related Roundups: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro

Truly good Apple deals can be hard to come by, but right now you can save on one of the company's smallest (and arguably one if its most useful) gadgets. A four-pack of Apple AirTags is down to $65 right now, which is 34 percent off its usual price and a sale hanging on after Prime Day ended earlier this week. With the second beta of iOS 26.1, Apple updated the design of alarms set on the iPhone, making them harder to dismiss than before. Stopping an alarm in iOS 26.1 beta 2 requires a new Slide to Stop gesture rather than a simple tap. You can continue to tap to snooze an alarm, but if you want to turn it off entirely, you need to use a swipe. Transitioning from... Read more ›

Spam calls have become such a nuisance that many people simply don't answer their phone unless they recognize the number. In iOS 26, though, you can learn about who's calling before you respond, thanks to a clever new feature that intercepts unknown calls and asks the caller to identify themselves before your iPhone even rings. The new "Ask Reason for Calling" feature is kind of like having your own receptionist.... Read more ›
