iOS 26's new Liquid Glass interface has been criticized for making some content illegible in certain circumstances, and now the UI design is reportedly causing another unusual visual problem for some users. Liquid Glass adds subtle glowing effects to app icons' top-left and bottom-right corners, creating a glass-like appearance with depth and parallax effects. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff was upset. Last fall, one of his technical teams told large Salesforce customers that using Agentforce, the software firm’s new artificial intelligence for automating customer service and other functions, would require extensive planning. The product information the Salesforce team shared with those customers acknowledged the complexity of making the AI perform well. That message contradicted Benioff, a charismatic salesman who had been telling customers that using... Read more ›

As OpenAI irons out new terms of a partnership with Microsoft, it has told some shareholders that the percentage of revenue it will hand over to Microsoft will drop considerably in the coming years. As part of their original partnership agreement, Microsoft is entitled to 20% of the startup’s revenue through 2030. But OpenAI has projected to share roughly 8% of its revenue with commercial partners—namely, Microsoft—by the end of... Read more ›

On paper, Informatica, a Redwood City-based cloud software firm with 5,000 white collar employees, is exactly the type of company that should be gung-ho to pay up and buy Office 365 Copilot, the version of Microsoft’s flagship software that comes with artificial intelligence features. And more than a year ago, Informatica did test out Office 365 Copilot for a handful of its employees, according to CIO Graeme Thompson. But Thompson... Read more ›

Physical Intelligence, a startup developing large artificial intelligence models to power robots, is in talks with investors to raise additional venture capital at a valuation of about $5 billion, according to two people who have recently spoken to the company. Chinese tech giants Alibaba Group and Baidu have begun using their own internally designed chips to train their artificial intelligence models, partly replacing AI chips made by Nvidia, according to four people with direct knowledge of the moves. Until recently Chinese firms were entirely dependent on Nvidia chips for most... Read more ›

Perplexity has drawn plenty of its headlines for its relentless fundraising—which recently valued the artificial intelligence search firm at $20 billion—and its penchant for declaring big-ticket acquisition targets like TikTok. Hmmm. That sounds like a deal you have when you don’t really have... Read more ›
