When the first hypercasual game (Flappy Bird) was released in 2013, it wasn’t an immediate success. But by the following year interest in this type of lightweight, snackable gameplay had exploded and other developers were taking note. The genre became massive. Last year, Android’s share of the genre climbed to a record 57% as the pandemic boosted mobile games to new heights. But the release of Apple’s IDFA changes and the economic slowdown, have impacted mobile gaming severely.  What goes up, must come down
