10 Thought by Carl Jung: “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

Thought by Carl Jung: “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

Carl Jung wrote that loneliness does not come from having no people about you, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you, or from holding views that others find inadmissible. It’s one of his most quoted lines, and most people stop at the first half, the not-being-understood part. The half ... Read more

Read more

IBM is Getting Ready to Scale Quantum Computing

IBM spent a decade "building, testing and improving" quantum computing, reports the Wall Street Journal. "This year, the company is laying the groundwork to turn that technology into a fully-fledged, scalable business from an expensive science project." IBM said last month it plans to form a new independent subsidiary called Anderon, a foundry to produce the silicon wafers needed to make quantum-computing processors. The venture is seeded by a $1... Шаблоны C++ как инструмент архитектуры: compile-time dispatch, type traits и type erasure

Read more

I asked AI to show me a picture of my future kids, and learned a harsh lesson in how technology shows us what we want to see, not what’s real

I typed in two photographs, one of me and one of my partner, and waited about forty seconds for an app to show me our future child. What it returned was a soft-focus toddler with my partner’s mouth and something close to my eyes, lit like a nappy advertisement. My first reaction was not skepticism. ... Read more Read more

We tend to assume that classy people come from money or privilege, but psychology points to something quieter: households where manners were taught not as performance, but as genuine regard for other people.

When someone strikes us as classy, the first explanation that arrives is usually money. Good schools, a certain ease, the right clothes, parents who could afford all three. Class, in the everyday sense, gets treated as something you either inherit or buy. The psychology of social class and behaviour does not support that story as ... Read more Read more

Psychology suggests that people who build success quietly may not be secretive or antisocial — they may simply understand that announcing a goal can create a premature sense of progress, making the work itself feel less urgent.

There is a certain kind of person who keeps their plans to themselves. They are working on something, clearly, but they will not say what until it exists. It is easy to read this as a personality trait, a preference for secrecy, or a slightly cold unwillingness to let other people in. There is a ... Read more Read more

Psychology says people who scroll through social media for hours but never post aren’t necessarily antisocial or disengaged — many are quietly studying the room, absorbing social cues, and noticing patterns others miss while they’re busy performing.

The assumption is easy to make. Someone follows everything, likes nothing and posts never, and we file them away as disengaged, shy or quietly judging the rest of us. On most platforms, though, that person is not the exception. They are the room. The people who post are a small minority of the people who ... Read more Read more

BlackRock and Wellington just backed a 1977 Japanese taxi operator’s robotaxi pivot — and the demographic math behind the deal explains why Waymo needs Go more than Go needs Waymo

Japan's largest ride-hailing app, Go, raised ¥88.6 billion ($553 million) in its Tokyo Stock Exchange debut on Tuesday, making it the country's biggest IPO of 2026 . As reported by TechCrunch, the company plans to deploy the proceeds into robotaxi research and strategic acquisitions, positioning itself as the consolidator of a Japanese taxi sector buckling under a demographic crisis. Nobody talks about why the most competent people often feel the least confident, and it isn’t impostor syndrome, it’s that competence was the price they paid for not being noticed too closely

The standard explanation for why high achievers feel insecure is impostor syndrome. But for many, competence was never about pride or achievement. It was a strategy a child invented to avoid being examined too closely — and the strategy outlived its usefulness decades ago. Read more
