According to a new rumor from Taiwan, the upcoming iPhone 18 will get 12GB of RAM. The iPhone 17, for comparison, only has 8GB. The added memory will be used to power the new Siri AI features with the most powerful on-device model, which requires a minimum of 12GB of RAM.
This will give Siri more expressive voices (along with sliders to personalize them), and will also enable major accuracy improvements for system-wide dictation. The iPhone 17 will miss out on these features when they're released with iO
