Businesses whose employees are heavy users of Anthropic’s Claude products are likely to pay significantly more for them after the company changed its pricing model in recent weeks to charge business customers based on the amount of AI they use.
The shift, which hasn’t previously been reported, is the latest indication of how Anthropic is managing the booming popularity of its coding and agent products, which increase the costs of running that AI.

Microsoft increased prices for all of its Surface PCs this week, with most models priced hundreds of dollars higher than they were when launching. Windows Central highlighted the increases, which now see Microsoft's mid-range models priced above $1,000 and flagship models priced starting at $1,500. A Microsoft spokesperson said the price increase was due to "recent increases in memory and component costs." Microsoft's 12-inch Surface Pro, which was its cheapest... Read more ›

When Unilever last week announced its $1.2 billion acquisition of Grüns, a three-year-old brand of gummy vitamins, I had a flashback to a decade ago when Unilever bought Dollar Shave Club for almost the same price. That earlier deal marked the heyday of venture-backed consumer exits, which have been few and far between more recently. The Grüns sale is the latest sign that consumer investing is experiencing a revival. At... Read more ›

The sooner Anthropic and OpenAI go public, the better—at least then we’d have proper financial disclosure. Both companies’ habit of updating the public on their revenue growth by references to either monthly revenue or annualized revenue, which is (loosely speaking) the last month’s revenue multiplied by 12, is getting old. And it’s not exactly what investors need to know.Take Anthropic, which revealed Monday afternoon that it was now generating annualized... Read more ›

Earlier this week, my colleague Jyoti reported on the great lengths Meta Platforms engineers are going to show off their AI prowess. The drive by companies... Read more ›
