Google is developing a native Gemini app for the Mac, reports Bloomberg. Right now, Mac users who want to use Google's Gemini AI have to use a web browser, but that will change with a dedicated Mac app. Google competitors like Anthropic and OpenAI have dedicated Mac apps for their chatbots, potentially making Claude and ChatGPT more convenient to use than Gemini. My son Danny called me on a Tuesday afternoon, maybe two years after he’d moved out of state. Not because anything was wrong. Just to talk. Halfway through the conversation he mentioned, almost as an aside, that he’d had a rough patch a few months back — something with work, money tighter than expected, he ... Read more Read more ›

Longtime Slashdot reader UnknowingFool writes: Rapper Afroman, born Joseph Edgar Foreman, famous for his 2000 hit "Because I Got High", has won a defamation lawsuit that seven Ohio police offers filed against him. Pokémon Pokopia is good, isn't it? Despite selling over 2.2m copies within a week of launch, and being so impressive that it's even making Nintendo stock go up, there are a few issues with the game that are impeding everyone from having a great time with the title. Don't worry, though, Nintendo has confirmed we will soon get an update that addresses a variety of bugs present in the launch... Read more ›

I admit I was a bit surprised when I looked at my Pokémon Pokopia playtime on Monday and discovered I’d somehow put in nearly 24 hours over the weekend. But still, that didn’t stop me from scoffing when my colleagues started talking about how they’d been losing sleep to the thing. Ridiculous, I thought! Impossible! So it almost feels inevitable that, a day later, this article comes to you through... Read more ›

Hello and welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little about the games we've been playing. This week, everyone's playing Pokémon Pokopia apart from Bertie and Connor, who are arguably the staff members with the best taste - an observation I make completely unbiasedly. If extraction shooters are games in which you duck out of the fray between matches to look at what you just collected, I guess I'm almost playing Marathon the right way. I struggle to keep up with a team, let alone support other players in any meaningful manner, and I'm truly useless in most gunfights. But when the game is over I'm still eagerly checking through my winnings. Read more Read more ›
