People who grew up watching their parents stay together unhappily often become adults who are simultaneously terrified of commitment and terrified of leaving. They inherited the architecture of endurance without ever being shown what it was supposed to protect

Children who watched their parents stay in unhappy marriages often develop a specific form of relational paralysis in adulthood: the ability to endure almost anything, paired with no template for what endurance is supposed to protect. Read more

Psychology says the reason self-improvement feels harder after 60 isn’t diminished capacity – it’s that for the first time you can’t use the future as a consolation prize, which means you have to want the change for its own sake, right now, which is actually the only reason it ever worked

After decades of using "someday" as your safety net, hitting 60 strips away the comforting illusion of endless time and forces you to confront the raw truth about change—you either want it right now for its own sake, or you don't want it at all. Read more

PUBG's new co-op PvE mode, Xeno Point, offers a strange vision of a post-battle royale future

For readers of Eurogamer, it may have been a while since you last read much in depth about PUBG - or indeed PUBG Battlegrounds (redundant subtitle duly acknowledged by publisher Krafton) as it's now known in its post-Brendan Greene form. PUBG is now the brand, Battlegrounds the game, and specifically it's the battle royale one we all played, often obsessively, in its early years. Read more Read more
