Don't sleep on Nioh 3's wonderful asynchronous multiplayer, a life-saver and unexpected death bringer in equal measure

Nioh's weird multiplayer has always been one of the most unique quirks of the Soulslike-cum-masocore series. I'm not talking about the needlessly complicated suite of co-op options that pals can use to run through the game together, I'm talking more about the asynchronous multiplayer that's woven into the DNA of the series itself. If you wander out into the 'open field' of Nioh 3, for example, you will find red graves littered around the area. Each of these marks a place where a fellow player has died - and

Read more

Social psychologists found that the people others describe as ‘intimidating’ are almost never aggressive — they’re simply present in a way that makes performative people uncomfortable, because authenticity exposes pretense without saying a word

I’ll admit something that took me years to understand about myself. For a long time, people told me I was intimidating. Not in the way that implies threat or aggression. In the way that comes with a slight lean backward, a careful recalibration of the conversation, a sudden awareness of posture. I couldn’t make sense ... Read more Read more

FBI Is Buying Location Data To Track US Citizens, Director Confirms

An anonymous reader quotes a report from TechCrunch: The FBI has resumed purchasing reams of Americans' data and location histories to aid federal investigations, the agency's director, Kash Patel, testified to lawmakers on Wednesday. This is the first time since 2023 that the FBI has confirmed it was buying access to people's data collected from data brokers, who source much of their information -- including location data -- from ordinary... Tim Cook on iPhone's Future: 'There's So Much Left That We Can Do'

In an interview with Nikias Molina at New York's Grand Central Terminal last week, Apple's CEO Tim Cook briefly commented on the future of the iPhone. "There's so much left that we can do with the iPhone," said Cook. "I think it's going to continue to be the center of people's digital lives." While this is just typical corporate speak, it is still interesting that Cook thinks the iPhone will... Read more

Read more

Even as a massive Monster Hunter fan, I've never gelled with the spin-offs - but Monster Hunter Stories 3 has me hooked

I do love a bit of Monster Hunter; by which I mean a lot of Monster Hunter - I dread to imagine the total number of hours I've spent with the series over the years. I love the pageantry of the hunt, I love stupid big swords and ludicrous outfits made of monster bits, and, above all else, I love the half joyful, half-sultry 'Soooo tasty!' Time to pay your last respects to Microsoft's "This is an Xbox" campaign, as it appears to have been killed off

This is an Xbox! Wait, is this an Xbox? Well, perhaps not anymore, as Microsoft appears to have quietly removed its marketing campaign which proclaimed the Xbox was less of a console and more of a platform that could be accessed on basically everything, even a toaster (ok, I am jesting a bit here for theatrical purposes, but just go with me on this). I sure hope the Resident Evil Requiem DLC is all about Grace, the best thing to happen to Resi in years

I adored Resident Evil 7. After the series' identity had slowly taken on water over the course of the last decade or so's mainline entries and spin-offs, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (to use its full name) reminded us all why Capcom is the king of modern horror gaming. It managed to do two very important things: pay tribute to the origins of Resident Evil whilst also laying the foundations for... Read more
