I’d argue that there was probably no greater poisoned chalice in games than taking on the job of remaking Final Fantasy 7. Hyped for years before it was announced, its reveal part of the so-called ‘E3 of dreams’, and it is of course a reimagining of one of the most important and beloved role-playing games of all time.
