If you’re reading this, I have to assume you’re a horror fan. Whether you’re solely into horror, horror films or horror games, you likely remember what it was that prompted your fascination with the genre. For me, it was Friday the 13th: The Game. Prior to this, I was scared stiff by the very thought of horror. The idea of sitting down to watch a scary film wasn’t a pleasant prospect,... Read more ›

Asus ROG Ally X vs ROG Ally: Hands-on with the new, improved handheld

Asus recently announced the ROG Ally X - a refresh of last year's Ally. It's been criticised for not offering any kind of performance upgrade, but based on my experiences testing a range of PC Windows handhelds, I think it's a solid upgrade in many ways. The move from 16GB to 24GB of memory addresses issues afflicting a small but growing number of new games, while doubling the size of... Read more ›

Sam & Max return in The Devil's Playhouse Remastered this August

After a long (and in my case, slightly impatient) wait, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse - the third and regrettably final season of Telltale Games' episodic point-and-click adventure series - will be getting the remaster treatment on 14th August this year. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse originally released back in 2010, wrapping up Telltales' Sam & Max adventures in style, following the release of 2006's Sam & Max:... Read more ›

Wordle creator almost named his game Mr Bugs Wordys Nugz

It's funny to think about names; if circumstances were just a tiny bit different, Chuck Spadina could have been telling E3 how breathtaking they were; we might have all have been down the arcade playing at a Kong Dong cabinet; or perhaps sitting down over breakfast for a quick game of Mr Bugs Wordys Nugz. That's the title developer Josh Wardle once considered for daily word game phenomenon Wordle before... Read more ›

Concord developer discusses monetisation, PSN account requirement

The developer of Concord, Sony's upcoming PlayStation 5 and PC hero shooter, has discussed how it will handle the game's monetisation - and why the game requires a PSN account log-in on PC. Speaking to Eurogamer's Chris Tapsell earlier this month, Concord developer Firewalk explained the game's relatively cheap £35/$40 price point, and said it was a fair proposition for the amount of content the title contained. "When you buy... Read more ›

Team Fortress 2 aimbots are being quietly banned by Valve

Valve has seemingly purged aimbots in Team Fortress 2.Team Fortress 2 fans – who've long complained about the prevalence of aimbots cluttering up lobbies in Valve's tentpole shooter game – are reporting "a large ban wave" after a "prominent hoster" confirmed they had been banned.Whilst fans were careful not to get too excited given there's been no formal word from Valve, Discorder Megascatterbomb said, "The strongest evidence we have of... Oh no, Zenless Zone Zero is good now

You know that giddy feeling you get when a game does something unmistakably right? I felt it using the delectable Grappleshot in Halo Infinite for the first time; when floating through a trippy music video-like sequence in Control; and when fighting the beautifully horrific Hyperion boss to ethereal organ tunes in Returnal. Perfectly preserved memories I reach for when I need a reminder on how good games can be. Imagine... Read more ›

Some big changes are coming to FM25. Last year, in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer on the future of Football Manager, Sports Interactive gaffer Miles Jacobson described those big changes, particularly those coming to the game's UI, as "the most dangerou changes you can make - because people who have muscle memory of knowing exactly where to go won't have that anymore" With a game like FM, where the UI... After half a decade in the wilderness, Alpha Protocol is back on Steam.Sega pulled Alpha Protocol from sale way back in 2019 due to the expiry of music rights, and whilst it returned to GOG back in March, Obsidian's fan-favourite spy RPG was still curiously missing from Valve's storefront.
