HMD's roster of own-brand smartphones is set to grow very quickly over the next few months, and so far we've heard a lot about the Skyline, a handset with a design reminiscent of old Nokia Lumias. The same source of most HMD leaks so far says the Skyline will be similar in size to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, but that's not our main event.
That honor goes to the newly leaked HMD View, a smartphone boasting an FHD+ OLED screen, a 50 MP main camera with OIS, 8GB of RAM, and a 4,700 mAh battery.

People who visited Lego's website on the evening of October 4 were welcomed by a banner with illustrated golden coins bearing the company's logo, claiming that the "Lego coin" is now officially out. It even promised "secret rewards" to those who'd buy some. But Lego wasn't truly launching an official cryptocurrency coin, and according to The Brick Fan, the button to buy led to an external cryptocurrency website selling "LEGO... Read more ›

It's hard to believe we're already into October with the iPhone 16 launch behind us, but there's lots more still to come from Apple this year on both the hardware and software fronts. We're still expecting a number of Mac and perhaps some iPad updates in the very near future, while Apple Intelligence features are set to begin rolling out with iOS 18.1 and related operating system updates. The train... Read more ›

Apple iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max come with the latest available Apple iOS 18 pre-installed. While Apple tried to present this new iteration as one of the biggest redesigns, it doesn't feel that big in day-to-day use. However, allowing for deep personalization options across the homescreens and interface does have the potential to make the UI rather unique and different, something which has been lacking... Does the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE need to exist? It all comes down to price – a 256GB unit will cost you $710 in the US with no promotions and discounts, a Galaxy S24+ 256GB is $1,000. The S24+ is certainly the better phone, but whether it is $290 better remains to be seen. And you shouldn’t be paying full price for these phones, anyway. Samsung US is accepting pre-orders... OnePlus (and its parent Oppo) were embroiled in a very protracted patent dispute with Nokia in the past, which at one point saw OnePlus and Oppo devices banned from sale in Germany (and this only ended a few months ago), and now unfortunately history repeats itself. Though this time the problem isn't with Nokia, it's also a patent dispute, with InterDigital, over key patents for 5G and other mobile technologies.... Read more ›

At the beginning of the month, Infinix announced the 5G-enabled Hot 50. Now, the company is bringing a more affordable 4G variant that has the same design, but differs in a few key specs. The Infinix Hot 50 4G is powered by the Helio G100, which replaces the Dimensity 6300. This limits connectivity to a 4G modem, but performance should be quite similar as both chips are fabbed on a... A while back we saw the first results from what should be the Exynos 1580, Samsung's next mid-range chipset. Now we have a new batch of results coming from one of the key devices where the new chip will be used – the Samsung Galaxy A56. Predictably, the phone has a model number SM-A566B, while the chipset goes under S5E8855. Samsung Galaxy A56 (SM-A566B) scorecard from Geekbench 6.2.2 The Exynos... Read more ›

Something big may be happening in the flagship Galaxy S line, but not next year. The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are all coming in January, as usual. But in 2026, the Korean company could bring a major change to its lineup, by giving up on the Galaxy S26. Samsung has already done something similar to its flagship tablet line. This year, only the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy... Read more ›

Chipset prices are getting out of control and companies are looking for some cheaper alternatives. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is an interesting case – Samsung chose an in-house chip, but not the same that is found in Galaxy S24 and S24+ phones in some parts of the world. Instead, it used the Exynos 2400e. Samsung is keeping most details under wraps, but it did confirm that the prime Cortex-X4... Read more ›
