The artificial intelligence boom has ignited an intense response from regulators that will shape the future of AI startups, platforms and open source. President Joe Biden last year issued an executive order on AI and the EU has its AI Act. In the first half of 2024, state lawmakers across the U.S. have introduced 745 AI-related bills—10 times as many as were proposed in all of 2023.
