Dozens of enterprise software firms have shifted away from charging customers flat, per-user subscription fees as AI threatens their seat-based pricing model.
By the end of 2025, 79 of the 500 software companies tracked by former OpenView partner Kyle Poyar, including HubSpot, Adobe and Salesforce, had begun charging customers additional fees based on how much AI they’re using. That’s more than double the figure in 2024.

There are, after a good few hours playing it, quite a few games like Control Resonant. It's an RPG with a kind of pseudo open-world - an "open-ended modern world" I believe was Remedy's way of putting it in its presentation to the press earlier this week - and it has skill trees and some light resource-gathering and item-upgrading. It has some light platforming with a double-jump and a dash,... Read more ›

Chronologically, Control Resonant is a sequel to 2019's Control. But in most other ways, the games aren't directly connected. To developer Remedy, they're more like two sides of the same coin. When Resonant was first revealed last year, creative director Mikael Kasurinen said you can play the games in any order. The world of Control […] Read more ›

Read more ›

By now, you’ve probably seen the unbelievable video of Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploding on its launchpad in Florida on Thursday night. On its face, Blue Origin’s pain would seem to be Elon Musk’s gain, further cementing SpaceX’s already significant lead in the space business just weeks before it goes public. While the explosion is obviously terrible news for Jeff Bezos’ space ambitions, Musk and his SpaceX colleagues have... Read more ›

Before former Slack CEO Denise Dresser joined OpenAI in December as its chief revenue officer, the company’s efforts to sell its products to business customers were sometimes clunky. Earlier in 2025, for example, the company had struck an agreement with Databricks, which would sell OpenAI products alongside the database software provider’s own products. But some potential customers were confused about which salespeople to reach, remembers Andy Kofoid, president of global... Read more ›

Two months after Microsoft’s conscious uncoupling from OpenAI, Microsoft wants to prove it’s thriving as an AI provider that doesn’t have to rely on the ChatGPT maker’s technology. Microsoft’s annual Build conference for roughly 2,500 app developers, which kicks off Tuesday in San Francisco, will be a “debutante ball” of sorts for its team developing AI models that aim to be an alternative to those from OpenAI and Anthropic.
