Scientists have discovered that combining two existing drugs can dramatically reduce liver fat linked to a common and often silent disease. The treatment not only improved liver health in animal models but also showed potential to lower heart-related risks. Interestingly, using lower doses of both drugs together worked just as well as higher doses alone. While promising, the findings still need to be tested in humans.

Read more ›

Tech Times reports: Linux 7.2's merge window closed out a cleanup campaign on Friday that most kernel developers had stopped expecting to see end: the complete removal of strncpy(), a C string-copy function that the kernel's own documentation labels "actively dangerous," from every subsystem, driver, and architecture-specific file in the kernel source tree. The merge landed June 20, 2026. After around 362 commits spread across six years of incremental work,... Read more ›

Two decades ago, using a “borderless Cloud” to house data felt like an exciting innovation. And in reality, it was. Companies jumped at the ability to create, store, and organize their data in the Cloud. They could access it from anywhere. The scale, speed, and affordability were attractive. Efficiency was clearly better with this approach to data storage and […] Read more ›

Read more ›

Researchers tracked honey bees in the wild using a drone-based system and found that each bee follows its own highly consistent flight path. Some repeated their routes so precisely that they flew only centimeters from where they had flown before. Landmarks like trees helped keep them on track, while uniform areas such as cornfields led to more variation. Read more ›

NASA satellites have detected a vast pulse of warm water reaching the coast of South America, signaling that El Niño is likely developing. The warm water is being carried eastward by massive ocean waves known as Kelvin waves, which also cause sea levels to rise. For years, calcium and vitamin D supplements have been promoted as a simple way for older adults to protect their bones and prevent falls. But a massive review of nearly 154,000 people found that calcium, vitamin D, or a combination of both provided little to no meaningful protection against fractures or falls for most older adults.
