'AI' Is Coming For Your Online Gaming Servers Next

"Consumer PC parts aren't the only things being gobbled up by the 'AI' industry," writes PCWorld's Michael Crider. "A Starcraft-inspired strategy game is shutting down its multiplayer servers because the hosting company got bought out for 'AI.'" The game will still be playable offline for now, but the shutdown highlights the ripple effects of the AI boom on the gaming industry. Amid the ongoing hardware shortages, AI companies are basically gobbling up as much infrastructure as they can to repurpose it for.

The real problem with Hasan Piker

Hasan Piker is exceptionally good at ranting about politics while playing video games. In the late 20th century, this would have made him a fun (if exhausting) hang. In today’s era, it has rendered him one of the most influential left-wing commentators in America, an increasingly popular surrogate for progressive candidates, and a flashpoint in […] Read more

The “iPhone clone” debate is stuck in the past

For years, calling a phone an “iPhone clone” was the quickest way to dismiss it outright. It meant lazy design, cheap hardware, and an experience that fell apart the moment you actually used it. Early copycats earned that reputation. They borrowed the look of Apple’s iPhone, but none of the substance. Bad displays, laggy performance, […] Read more

Интеграция MULTIDIRECTORY и MULTIFACTOR: двухфакторная аутентификация в Kerberos

Read more

Former Sony exec opens up about the idea of PS5 games coming to PC on day one: "I don't think that's a good strategy for a platform holder like PlayStation"

Do you remember Shuhei 'yosp' Yoshida, former PlayStation boss and the head of PlayStation Indies from 2019 until his retirement from the company in 2025? The likeable good-natured executive has recently come out and stated that he doesn't necessarily think that day-and-date PC releases for triple-A PlayStation games is a very good idea (but, also, that he hasn't seen any solid proof that Sony is abandoning PC releases altogether despite... Microsoft Increases the FAT32 Limit From 32GB To 2TB

Longtime Slashdot reader AmiMoJo writes: Windows has limited FAT32 partitions to a maximum of 32GB for decades now. When memory cards and USB drives exceeded 32GB in size, the only options were exFAT or NTFS.
