Border Officials Are Said To Have Caused El Paso Closure by Firing Anti-Drone Laser

An anonymous reader shares a report: The abrupt closure of El Paso's airspace late Tuesday was precipitated when Customs and Border Protection officials deployed an anti-drone laser on loan from the Department of Defense without giving aviation officials enough time to assess the risks to commercial aircraft, according to multiple people briefed on the situation. The episode led the Federal Aviation Administration to abruptly declare that the nearby airspace would... Read more

Apple’s Vision Pro is a curious product — it initially wowed me two years ago, but it was hard to ignore that the visionOS platform felt incomplete without dedicated apps for YouTube and Netflix. Downbeat Crypto Sector Looks to AI for Rescue

Crypto’s market crash has prompted much soul-searching within the industry, I learned at this week’s annual crypto Consensus conference in Hong Kong. The answer: To stay relevant, the industry must tie its fate with the AI boom. I find the crypto industry’s hopes for an AI rescue somewhat ironic, given that AI has siphoned capital and talent away from crypto in the last two years. Nevertheless, “AI agent” was the... "It's going to be a very long goodbye" - Peter Molyneux's last game will be Masters of Albion, but that's not necessarily as simple as it sounds

Peter Molyneux has had a divisive career. On the one hand, he's celebrated as the creator of the god game and for making classics like Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and Fable. Whereas on the other hand, he's been derided for overexaggerating promises related to mobile game Curiosity and crowdfunded game Godus, and for getting involved in NFTs with a game unironically called Legacy. Backlash pushed him away from... Read more

U.S. government plans tariff exemptions for TSMC, if it follows through on American investment — $165 billion already pledged to increase production capacity, but details of the deal are still murky

Following the announcement of impending chip import tariffs in January, the Trump Administration is now planning to offer major U.S. tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon the ability to circumvent them.
