Toyota and Pony.ai start mass producing robotaxis for China

The first Pony.ai bZ4X robotaxi, made in partnership with Toyota, has just rolled off the production line and is ready to be deployed. It’s the first of many, if the companies stick to their plan, which is to produce more than 1,000 bZ4X robotaxis this year. The bZ4X is one of the three autonomous vehicle models Pony.ai intends to use for commercial services in Tier 1 Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. The other two vehicles are already being used for Pony.ai’s ride-hailing service, while the.

Elevation Lab's 10-year extended battery case for AirTag is back on sale for $16

If you're an iPhone user who likes to keep tabs on where your stuff is, you can't go far wrong with an AirTag. The second-gen model that Apple just released outpaces the original in every way (aside from the galling lack of a keyring hole, that is). While it's easy enough to replace the battery in both versions of the AirTag, you might not want to have to worry about... Read more

Pope Leo is quietly reviving America’s Catholic left

A quiet cold war is happening across America — one that many Americans might not be aware of if they’re not tuned into the changes underway in America’s Christian communities.  On one side is the religious right’s use of scripture and faith to justify and defend President Donald Trump’s agenda — and growing Christian nationalist […] Read more

If they made games like this any more, they'd make Romeo is a Dead Man, a game as joyously weird as it is spectacular

Here's how the first few minutes of Romeo is a Dead Man go down: first, the entire cosmos floating in a fish tank to the ethereal strains of what eventually turns out to be Japanese rap (this is just the title screen). Next, a stop-motion animated intro over a glorious town of miniatures. Then! Cut to the interior of a police car; a zombie attack; our hero's gruesome death; a... Read more

Could the Trump Phone be a good phone?

We have long had our doubts about the Trump Phone. Since its very first debut, the device - technically called the Trump Mobile T1 Phone 8002 - has seemed utterly impossible to execute as advertised. Nintendo keeps filling in the gaps

When you buy a new Nintendo device, there are a few things you can expect: namely, some excellent Super Mario, Pokémon, and Legend of Zelda games, and maybe a great Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, or Smash Bros. UK takes 'light touch' approach to regulating Apple and Google's app stores

Last year the UK declared that Apple and Google were a duopoly with "strategic market status" in the mobile platforms market, making them subject to special regulations. However, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will not regulate Google and Apple's app stores like the EU has done. Rather, government plans to enforce its own digital markets rules in a "pragmatic" way by accepting "commitments" from Apple and Google in... Read more
