Microsoft simply couldn't deliver enough compelling games, despite some huge acquisitions, while Sony leaned on its goodwill from the PS4 era and a handful of desirable exclusives. As prices rose due to supply chain issues and the Trump administration's volatile tariff scheme, there was even less of a reason to get an Xbox

How Markdown Took Over the World

22 years ago, developer and columnist John Gruber released Markdown, a simple plain-text formatting system designed to spare writers the headache of memorizing arcane HTML tags. As technologist Anil Dash writes in a long piece, Markdown has since embedded itself into nearly every corner of modern computing. Aaron Swartz, then seventeen years old, served as the beta tester before its quiet March 2004 debut. Google eventually added Markdown support to... Read more ›

It's time for Apple to reinstate ICEBlock

In October, Apple caved to pressure from the Trump administration and removed ICEBlock — and similar apps which crowdsourced the location of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement activity — from its App Store. Apple's stated rationale? The apps could "be used to harm law enforcement officers." But armed-to-the-teeth ICE officers don’t need protection from civilians. Apple had that exactly backward. That became impossible to ignore on Wednesday, when ICE agent Jonathon Ross... Read more ›

PNY is releasing slim-sized NVIDIA RTX GPUs just as PC building becomes prohibitively expensive

If I were building a new PC today, I'd go for a small form factor mATX or ITX build. With companies like Fractal Design and Lian Li making cases that can fit modern GPUs without sacrificing on thermals, you don't need to settle for the old mid-tower monstrosities of yesteryear. And that's why PNY's new "Slim” model RTX 50-series designs caught my eye. All three variants, covering the 5070, 5070... Read more ›

As an unabashed fan of electric vehicles, even I have to admit that most of them are pretty boring. Segway launches two more e-bikes at CES

I’m no psychologist, but I get a sense Segway turned up to CES 2026 with something to prove after last year. This year, Segway’s not just launching two more mainstream e-bikes, but an electric dirt bike, all of which are... Read more ›
