Mentra’s first smart glasses are open-source and come with their own app store

Mentra will soon start shipping its first smart glasses, the Mentra Live. Mentra says the MiniApp Store is the first app store of its nature for smart glasses, and... Read more

In the chaotic world of Large Language Model (LLM) optimization, engineers have spent the last few years developing increasingly esoteric rituals to get better answers. We’ve seen "Chain of Thought" (asking the model to think step-by-step and often, show those "reasoning traces" to the user), "Emotional Blackmail" (telling the model its career depends on the answer, or that it is being accused of sexual misconduct), and complex multi-shot prompting frameworks.But... In an impressive feat, Japanese startup Sakana AI’s coding agent ALE-Agent recently secured first place in the AtCoder Heuristic Contest (AHC058), a complex coding competition that involves complicated optimization problems — and a more difficult and perhaps telling challenge than benchmarks like HumanEval, which mostly test the ability to write isolated functions, and which many AI models and agents now regularly pass with ease ("benchmark saturation"). Sakana's accomplishment with ALE-Agent... Read more

Enterprise security teams are losing ground to AI-enabled attacks — not because defenses are weak, but because the threat model has shifted. As AI agents move into production, attackers are exploiting runtime weaknesses where breakout times are measured in seconds, patch windows in hours, and traditional security has little visibility or control.CrowdStrike's 2025 Global Threat Report documents breakout times as fast as 51 seconds. Attackers are moving from initial access... Read more

Our LLM API bill was growing 30% month-over-month. Traffic was increasing, but not that fast. When I analyzed our query logs, I found the real problem: Users ask the same questions in different ways."What's your return policy?," "How do I return something?", and "Can I get a refund?" were all hitting our LLM separately, generating nearly identical responses, each incurring full API costs.Exact-match caching, the obvious first solution, captured only...
