Phantom Blade Zero has Dark Souls-inspired non-linear map, but developer still insists it's not a Soulslike

Forthcoming action-RPG Phantom Blade Zero will have a seamless, non-linear map "just like the Souls games before Elden Ring." That's according to the game's director, who (ironically) goes by the moniker Soulframe, as interviewed by Games Radar discussing its world design. "It's just like the old Souls games," said Soulframe. "You move around and explore in a seamless map, it's just not a huge open-world map. But every region is... Read more ›

Once Human review - mediocre action limits a cracking open world

On the face of it, there's not much in Once Human that hasn't been done a thousand times before. Better, too, in some instances. Seemingly the very epitome of design-by-committee, it's everything you may expect a free-to-play multiplayer open-world survival horror to be, down to its garish shop and two-track battle pass. There's about eleventy gazillion menus and items to track, your UI is painfully cluttered, and in some places,... Read more ›

Borderlands movie gets "final" trailer ahead of August's release

Sure, TV seems to be doing a decent job of making video game adaptations that don't utterly suck these days, but the movie world's still waiting for its The Last of Us moment. Will it come in the form Gearbox's soon-to-be-released Borderlands film? Probably not, but if it's brightly coloured chaos you're after, it should feature plenty of that judging by its newly released "final" trailer - which has been... Read more ›

Meeting the people of PEGI: talking age ratings, gambling, and why their famous voice only got €200

Close your eyes and imagine a game trailer and tell me how it begins. Something happens at the very beginning before anything else - before you see anything of the game.
