Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest is a theme park for its passionate community

Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy 14's producer and director, has repeatedly described the MMORPG as a theme park for the series, with its wealth of distractions and references to multiple games. If that's the case, then the Final Fantasy Fan Fest event is the real-life theme park: full of activities, but plagued by queue times. This was the first in-person Fan Fest event since 2019's event in Japan, and will be... Read more ›

After a tumultuous few years, the Cannibal Holocaust game is still happening but looking a little different

The project's seen a tumultuous few years - and several changes in direction - since then, but its developer has now shed a little more light on its behind-the-scenes struggles, and provided an update on the form it'll take when it... Digital Foundry launches new clips channel

Digital Foundry today launches a new channel on YouTube - DF Clips - which aims to bring more of our work to a wider audience. Looking at the way our content is 'consumed' on YouTube via analytics, it's clear that while we've built up a large audience and an excellent supporter community, YT itself isn't really a platform best suited to longer form, in-depth material. DF Clips aims to shine... Read more ›

Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant is a hell of my own making

As an avid enthusiast of artful, purposeful suffering in games, returning to Diablo 4 for its first season seems, on the surface, like a joyful midnight binge at McDonalds: a hollow but familiar, mostly satisfying romp through your menu favourites, with useless tchotchkes that come with your meal, whether you want them or not. But once you hit endgame - I maxed out the entire season battle pass in a... Read more ›

Knight Crawlers is a clever action-RPG with endearingly goofy baddies

Knight Crawlers is an action-RPG kind of thing that came out earlier this year. Having bounced off Diablo 4 a bit, I've still had an itch to disappear into the depths and smack skeletons around. Knight Crawlers has done me proud so far. I'm not too far in, but I'm having a great time. It's a roguelite at heart. Each journey into the procedural depths sees you creating a build... Read more ›

It's been a couple of months since I reviewed the open-back Grado SR325x, but now it's time to look at another pair of Grado headphones - this time with wireless. The £228/$275 GW100x is the long-awaited upgrade to 2018's GW100, bringing with it updated 44mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 with the aptX Adaptive codec and much improved battery life. The idea of wireless open-backs might seem like a novelty at first,... Read more ›

Remnant 2 has a secret class its developer deliberately hid for dataminers to find

Remnant 2 is doing alright for itself; not only has the Souls-esque shooter secured some extremely positive reviews, it's also selling well too; and amid all the general positivity around the release, there's a bit more fun news courtesy a whole new secret class that developer Gunfire Games squirrelled away for dataminers to find. The class (or Archetype, in Remnant 2 parlance) in question is known as the Archon, and... Read more ›
