Assassin's Creed Mirage delivers a polished experience on all current-gen consoles

Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the Assassin's Creed series celebrates its 15th anniversary this year with Assassin's Creed Mirage. Originally meant as an expansion to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the overall scale of Mirage is certainly dialled down this time around. Expect a shorter, narratively tighter adventure - which is no bad thing. Not every game has to be an epic. Mirage focuses on a single main character too this year,... Read more ›

Philipp Stollenmayer is the greatest indie game auteur you've never heard of

Philipp Stollenmayer makes games about bacon, death, cows, physics, pancakes, words and...games themselves. He's one of the finest minds working in indie game development today, if you ask me (not that you did). He makes mobile games, so you've possibly never heard of him. Let's rectify that now, shall we? Stollenmayer was once a gymnast, and you can really see that in his games; many of them centre upon the... Read more ›

Bandai Namco has filed a US trademark for "Sparking! Zero", Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi's Japanese name

Bandai Namco has filed a new US trademark for the name "Sparking! Zero". A Japanese lawyer representing Bandai Namco filed the trademark application at the United States Patent and Trademark Office on 26th September. Whilst it may not sound like much, this is pretty much the only Dragon Ball Z-flavoured news we've had since the new Budokai Tenkaichi instalment – which is called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series in Japan... Lies of P may have only recently dropped, but already we have confirmation that DLC is about to go into production. Whilst we often get these hints from unlocked LinkedIn pages or dataminers, this time, it is the developer/publisher itself, Neowiz, that let slip courtesy of its recruitment site. As spotted by Okami13, Neowiz's site gives a little overview of its latest title, Lies of P, where it proudly displays... Read more ›

Staff at CD Projekt Red are uniting with others in the Polish video game industry to unionise. "We started talking about unionizing after the 2023 wave of layoffs when nine... Read more ›

Silent Hill 2 Remake has been quietly updated on Steam

As we creak ever closer to spooky season and a possible second Silent Hill Transmission – the last was just before Halloween 2022 – it seems Bloober Team has quietly been updating the backend of Silent Hill 2 Remake's Steam page. In fairness, the store description and its accompanying tags have been tweaked routinely throughout the year, but according to Steam DB, there's been a flurry of activity through September... Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has been delayed to 2024

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has been delayed to 2024. Confirmation came in the action-packed Call of Duty Next event earlier this week, when co-studio head Chris Plummer said the delay was down to the team wanting to "polish up" the mobile spin-off. This means that the original "fall (Q3) 2023" window has now been pushed back to spring (Q2) 2024. Read more Read more ›

Dungeons & Dragons and the thrill of nearly losing everything in a game

We came this close to a total party kill in Dungeons & Dragons the other day, which means our whole group was nearly wiped out. And it really rattled me. I think it rattled the whole group. Even the Dungeon Master seemed shaken by it, which I didn't expect. And when he told us that in the 12 years he's been DMing, he's never had an entire group go that... Read more ›

Emma's Adventures: I painted landscapes in the horribly violent world of Rust

Ah Rust, the perfect game for relaxing and enjoying the scenery, right? Wrong. It's a nightmare zone full of death, paranoia and the most irritating players you'll find in a multiplayer game. It's been made that way by design, of course - the driving idea behind Rust is survival, and having to watch your back for other players is a key part of this. Base-building becomes a matter of outwitting... Read more ›

A reference to a "remastered" version The Last of Us Part 2 has been spotted on the profile of a Naughty Dog developer, lending further credence to suggestions an enhanced version of the game is on the way. Five months on, Redfall finally gets its 60fps mode on Xbox Series X/S

Five months after release, Bethesda's beleaguered vampire shooter Redfall has received its long-promised 60fps mode on Xbox Series X/S, as part of a major patch that also brings improved performance on PC, stealth takedowns, increased enemy counts, and more. A 60fps mode for Redfall was first touted back in April, after Bethesda broke the news its game would be locked to 1440p and 30fps on both Xbox Series X and... Read more ›

Baldur's Gate 3 now lets you change your name thanks to Hotfix #9

Life may be full of regrets, but if one of those regrets is that you decided to call your Baldur's Gate 3 character Bumfart the Third in a moment of weakness, there's some good news: the game's latest hotfix will finally let you change their ill-conceived name. That's the headline feature for Baldur's Gate 3's Hotfix #9 (or at least it is if you're a remorseful Bumfart), but there's more... Read more ›

Hands-on with AMD FSR 3 frame generation - taking the fight to DLSS 3

Last Friday, AMD finally released FSR 3 frame generation, its answer to Nvidia's DLSS 3. Two titles had supported added: Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum. We'd already seen demos of both games under controlled conditions at Gamescom back in August, but this was our first chance to go hands-on and to truly put FSR 3 through its paces. The verdict? Image quality in terms of generated frames is impressive, but... Read more ›

So prepare to be showered in additional greatness when Dave the Diver's first proper content updates arrives "real soon". Dave the Diver's previous big update, which released in August, was predominantly focused on quality of life improvements, and while there're plenty more of those... Read more ›
