Moonring review - a retro RPG offering more than mere nostalgia

The last few months have been bloody brilliant for RPGs, a period stuffed with massive, triple-A titans, gorged on inflated budgets and turgid with years of work from dozens or even hundreds of people, that have competed to devour hours upon hours of my time. And yet for a couple of weeks now I've been consumed by Moonring, another open-world RPG, but one that is largely the work of one... Read more ›

Remedy's Sam Lake answers your Alan Wake 2 questions and more

When I asked you - the Eurogamer readers - whether you had any questions for Remedy Entertainment's Sam Lake, I wasn't expecting quite the outpouring I got. I thought maybe there'd be a couple of dozen questions, perhaps more, but you submitted well over 100. It's a lot more than I imagined would come in, so thank you. It's a really encouraging precedent for doing similar things in the future.I... Read more ›

Witcher spin-off Gwent's development now officially ended with one final update

CD Projekt has officially brought the development of its Witcher card game spin-off Gwent to a close with one last update, putting all future balance changes in the hands of the community. Gwent, of course, started life as a turn-based card-collecting mini-game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (although, technically, it existed on the page of author Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher novels before that) and was expanded into its own full-scale... Paradox has confirmed Cities: Skylines 2 won't be getting official mod support until sometime after next week's release, with the feature set to arrive alongside its first wave of modding tools. Official mod support was one of the original Cities: Skylines' most exciting features when it launched back in 2015, and the city builder quickly developed a vibrant modding scene that played a significant role in its early success. Super Mario Bros. Wonder almost had sports-style live commentary

Super Mario Bros. Wonder almost had running 'live' commentary, like a sports game. Nintendo has released the final part of its Ask the Developer interview for the game, which includes discussion of live commentary that was ultimately scrapped. Redfall's 60fps patch works - but this isn't the redemption story we were hoping for

Redfall was a key 2023 Microsoft exclusive that didn't land especially well with players or critics. Many aspects of the title were controversial, from the sparsely populated open world to the relatively basic quest design, but the title's performance was perhaps the most obvious missed target. All preview materials for Redfall showcased 60fps gameplay, with relatively unambitious visuals, and yet the final game targeted 30fps on consoles, with occasional frame-rate... Read more ›
