Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin review - decent but disappointing strategy

In the fabled beforetimes of the early 2010s, Games Workshop made the decision to end the world. Not our world, though it may feel like it at times, but the Old World of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. The long-bearded miniatures game was vastly outperformed by its younger sci-fi sibling, Warhammer 40,000, so in 2015 it was killed off and replaced with Warhammer Age of Sigmar. This new setting, literally built from... Read more ›

American Arcadia review - a charming but simplistic spin on the Truman Show

I worried a bit about American Arcadia because of how much of a departure it seemed to be from Call of the Sea, Out of the Blue's first game, which I really liked. Why ditch a template that seemed to work so well? Why leave first-person mystery adventuring behind for a platformer set in the 1970s? Like I said, I worried.I shouldn't have. American Arcadia is a departure from Call... Read more ›

Snakebird Complete is a dazzler - and its map is just ingenious

I thought I would give Snakebird Complete five minutes or so when I downloaded it. Of course, it ended up eating my entire weekend. Brilliant brain-teasy puzzles, each the size of a single thought, and those lovely flat, bright colours and that beautiful children's book world! Hmm. I bet I'm about to find out that Snakebird is annoying to describe. It's sort of a puzzley, spatial-logic take on Blockade, or... Read more ›
