Destiny 2's Steam player count average is now the lowest in the franchise's history

Destiny 2's average 30-day player count on Steam has dropped to its lowest level in the series' history.Whilst participation in live-service games inevitably waxes and wanes - and these figures do not account for players on console - it's nonetheless an unwelcomed milestone for Bungie's beleaguered sci-fi shooter.Despite launching Episodes, the three-part, self-contained seasons that kicked off in The Final Shape's shadow back in June, Steam Charts suggests the game... Lead singer and co-songwriter of Heaven 17 Martyn Ware has told Rockstar to "go fuck yourself" after being offered $7500 - that's around £5700 - to include their 1983 hit, Temptation, in Grand Theft Auto 6.In a candid explanation posted to X/Twitter, Ware did not play down his dismay at the offer and stressed that predecessor GTA 5 grossed $8.6bn."I was recently contacted by my publishers on behalf of Rockstar... If you thought Hitman 3 VR was bad on PC just wait until you see Hitman 3 VR Reloaded in action

As a slight disclaimer before I kick off the kicking, these first impressions are based on 90 minutes of playing the retail version of Hitman 3 VR Reloaded on launch day. Apparently a big patch will be releasing on the 9th September that is said to address a lot of the issues that I had with the game. But I'll never know because I'll be damned if I ever put... The Eternal Life of Goldman's hand-drawn visuals stun, but it's the existential story that's most intriguing

How many games feature an elderly protagonist? More often than not, we find ourselves playing as plucky and attractive youngsters, superpowered teens, or occasionally a gruff dad. But what about an old man with a walking stick?Well, that's who you play as in platformer adventure The Eternal Life of Goldman, from developer Weappy Studio and publisher THQ Nordic. And if an old man may seem like a slow, weak character... Read more ›

How playing together has changed since 1999

Around the time Eurogamer launched, I was temping at an insurance office in Bournemouth, and I had a temping lunch break pal called Ken who I'm invoking now for two reasons. Firstly, Ken was the first person I spoke to who ever talked about "net anxiety" - the worry that one should be off making their fortune on the new frontiers of the internet. Secondly, he was the first person... Read more ›

Dragon Quest 3's new Monster Wrangler vocation is yet another welcome addition to the HD-2D remake

Square Enix is really piling on the options for its Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, though the inclusion of the new Monster Wrangler vocation is the biggest addition yet.I previously went hands-on with the game for its initial reveal, describing it as the perfect excuse to properly play such an iconic series. It comes not just with beautifully revamped graphics and sound, but modern features like autosave, varying battle speeds,... Read more ›

Your memories of Eurogamer have warmed us to our core

I think there's a hope we all have on the Eurogamer team that the things we do here, the articles we write or the videos we record, will mean something to the people who watch or read them. They don't have to elicit a ground-shaking reaction; it might simply be enough to make someone giggle with a wonderfully rubbish strapline - or to impress them with a genuinely clever one... Concord unceremoniously goes offline with an anticlimactic "error" message

Concord, Sony's floundering 5v5 hero shooter, has now officially gone offline just two weeks after its PS5 and PC launch - its short life ending with a slightly undignified "error" message. Concord was unveiled last May as part of former PlayStation boss Jim Ryan's optimistically expansive push into live-service gaming. Unfortunately for Sony and developer Firewalk Studios, Concord's launch this August failed to make much of an impact - player... Read more ›

PlayStation's Astro Bot success and PS5 Pro tease are a helpful distraction from Concord's failure

This week on the Eurogamer Newscast, we discuss the most dramatic few days for PlayStation in recent times. Sony's stunning decision to kill off live-service shooter flop Concord after less than two weeks sent shockwaves around the industry, setting a new precedent for how swiftly a troubled title from a major publisher could be given the axe. After eight years of work, the game has already disappeared from sale, and... Read more ›

Final Fantasy creator's Fantasian is a cult classic RPG now freed from Apple Arcade, but tactility is lost in the transition
