Children face social pressures to spend money in games, study suggests

A study conducted by Norwegian researchers has suggested children feel increasing social pressure to spend money in games.The study, commissioned by the Norwegian government's Ministry of Children and Family Affairs, was conducted by researchers Clara Julia Reich and Kamilla Knutsen Steinnes at Oslo Metropolitan University's National Institute for Consumer Research.An overview of the two resulting reports, originally written in Norwegian, by ScienceNorway.no reveals children the pair spoke to worried about. Sony layoffs reportedly impact 10% of Horizon Forbidden West developer

Horizon Forbidden West developer Guerrilla Games is reportedly cutting 10 percent of its staff.These reductions at the studio come as part of yesterday's announcement that 900 employees will lose their jobs across multiple studios and departments. Nintendo sues Switch emulator creator for facilitating piracy "at a colossal scale"

Nintendo is suing the creators of Switch emulator Yuzu, and claims more than 1m copies of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were pirated ahead of its release. The lawsuit is against Tropic Haze, the creator of the Yuzu game emulator, which Nintendo said allows users to play its games illegally by circumventing its software encryption. Epic Games hacked and data stolen, ransomware group claims

Fortnite maker Epic Games has reportedly suffered a ransomware attack, with almost 200GB of data stolen from the company. That's according to group behind the alleged attack, Mogilevich, as reported by Cyber Daily. Epic Games is yet to respond. EA's F1 24 gets May release date on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC

Urban fantasy RPG Reynatis from Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Mana talent confirms western release

PlayStation Studios head confirms projects cancelled in wake of layoffs

PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst has confirmed that some projects have been cancelled in the wake of layoffs across Sony Interactive Entertainment. Earlier today, SIE president and CEO Jim Ryan announced 900 layoffs would take place across the company, including the complete closure of PlayStation London Studios. A brand new Elden Ring manga webcomic will be released at the end of March. Called Elden Ring Become Lord, it will follow a particular Tarnished on their journey to become the next Elden Lord - as is the story of FromSoftware's game.
