Beyond Good and Evil delisting prompts speculation of imminent remaster release

Ubisoft has pulled the original version its beloved action-adventure Beyond Good and Evil from a number of digital stores, prompting speculation that its previously announced remaster is set to launch very soon. Beyond Good and Evil's 20th Anniversary Edition - a remaster of the original 2003 game - was confirmed to be in development last November, after a "technical error" (as Ubisoft termed it) inadvertently granted some Ubisoft+ subscribers access... 7 bizarre Easter Eggs from across the Perfect Dark series

Perfect Dark has been in the news quite a lot recently. First there was the impressive gameplay reveal for the upcoming reboot at this month's Xbox Showcase and, literally yesterday, Nintendo announced that the original Perfect Dark is now available to play on Switch. All of this Perfect Dark news got me perfectly nostalgic, so I jumped back into the original three games and put together a little list video based... What have we learned from Perfect Dark's gameplay reveal trailer?

The art of the reveal is a difficult thing - and in our current industry, most publishers prefer trailers packed with pre-rendered CGI or snippets captured across the game. Yet, I've always preferred a different approach: a linear series of events showcasing what's possible in the game. This style was memorably used to reveal Metal Gear Solid 2, along with titles like Halo 2, Doom 3, The Last of Us... Read more ›

My first hands on with The Plucky Squire was one of the most joyful experiences in ages

Joy is a bit underrated, I reckon, but at Summer Game Fest this year it felt like the closest thing to a running theme. Astro Bot and Lego Horizon Adventures were both a breeze, playful, ebullient family games that put all their focus on simply being a good time. The Plucky Squire, an action game with a domestic dimension hopping twist, however, probably just pipped them to the position of... Read more ›

Banana game not a scam, says developer

Banana has taken Steam by storm recently, yesterday knocking Baldur's Gate 3 out of the top 10 most popular games on Valve's platform (in terms of peak concurrent players). In Banana, players click on the image of a banana - or simply leave the software running - to eventually get a banana dropped into their Steam inventory. As we previously reported, these bananas can be sold in Steam's marketplace, with... Read more ›

Everything announced in the Nintendo Direct

The Nintendo Direct for June 2024 has been and gone! Sure we had to wait over a month (and were then only given 24 hours notice, classic Nintendo), but it was worth it. Well worth it subjectively, I'm sure there are some disappointment people out there. (Look, we'd all like to play Silksong. Hopefully it will be out next year. Or the year after that...) Anyways, in case you missed... Read more ›

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D is the excuse I need to properly play this iconic series

Firstly, a confession: despite being a huge Final Fantasy fan, and fan of the genre overall, I've never played a Dragon Quest game - much to my shame. The first Dragon Quest (released in 1986) is the original, pioneering JRPG and the success of the series is a huge reason why the genre is so popular. But so far, it's passed me by. I admit this not to reveal my... Read more ›
