Shadow of the Erdtree brings further depth and grandeur to FromSoftware's masterpiece

I got a pretty good sense of how things would go down in Shadow of the Erdtree when, mere seconds into my preview session, I found myself ambushed and fighting for my life. My scenic ride through golden fields was interrupted by a hunched monstrosity with dual discs, who pounced on my head and wouldn't give me a second to breathe. A boss fight, you might ask? Nope - this... Read more ›

Tiny Glade is all about making ruins

Tiny Glade is a building game, or a building toy. But you don't need to actually build anything to see how magical it all is. Instead, you can just take the cursor and move it through a patch of wild flowers. Don't click. Don't select. Don't release a twisting rattlesnake of stone wall or a squat, pointed tower. Just watch as the cursor itself, as its physical presence in the... Read more ›

Blue Prince is a looping mystery about rearranging the layout of a mansion, and it's excitingly good

In Blue Prince, what lies on the other side of the door is up to you. You might reach for the handle and decide there'll be a kitchen on the other end, or a bedroom or a closet. Whatever you decide, it'll be there - there to step into as if someone just imagined it on a drafting table for you. Thick pen lines frame block-coloured panels, all arranged with... Read more ›

Tavern Talk is a tasty blend of Coffee Talk and Legends & Lattes

Coffee shop games have left me hot and cold over the last couple of years. Coffee Talk, with its endearing fantasy characters and sumptuous soundtrack, remains the pinnacle of this growing genre for me, with Necrobarista coming a close second, thanks mostly to its striking bookshop setting and considered meditation on death and the afterlife (even if the time you spend as an actual barista is virtually non-existent). Others, though,... Read more ›
