Hello and welcome back to our regular feature where we write a little bit about some of the games we've been playing. This week, Bertie slips back into the warm bath that is Diablo 4, Tom P realises why everyone praises Balatro, and Tom O goes back to Halo. Read more Read more ›

Surviving a Disco Elysium LARP

Have you ever had to admit to your boss that your gun got stolen because you were distracted writing poetry with your former childhood friends at the local discotheque? Sounds like a really bad day at work, right? It was actually an incredible scene I got to play in the Disco Elysium-inspired LARP, 97 Poets of Revachol, last September. Read more Read more ›

I hate that Monster Hunter Wilds' coolest Palico armour is the product of its grossest monster

The Rompopolo. Sounds like a bouncy, round little chicken creature or something, doesn't it? It's a wonderful word to roll off the tongue - assonance abounds in every syllable, and the cute, repeated plosive of 'poh poh' at the end almost has a children's cartoon character-flavour to it, like Pokémon's seal starter Popplio, for example, or Studio Ghibli's Totoro. Warframe's Techrot Encore update adds boyband battling and Rainbow Road racing in March

Warframe has been getting increasingly, delightfully weird over the last couple of years, leading up to last year's time-travelling, NPC-romancing blast back to 1999. And things are about to get even wilder when developer Digital Extremes invites players to start kicking boyband butt in its new Techrot Encore update, arriving on 19th March. Read more Read more ›

PSA: You can change your Monster Hunter Wilds character once for free before Capcom makes you pay up

Monster Hunter Wilds is doing alright for itself, having smashed the 1m concurrent players barrier on Steam. And if you're one of the many players who've doubtless nipped back into the character editor because you've somehow made a hunter that looks like potato with a moustache, you might appreciate knowing you can actually modify your character once for free before Capcom makes you cough up some cash. Monster Hunter Wilds - we can't recommend the PC version

Monster Hunter Wilds makes for a confusing PC release, with staggeringly poor performance on lower-end graphics cards - to the extent that we don't recommend the game at all on these systems - and relatively meagre visual rewards given the performance requirements. That's a harsh assessment, but it's unfortunately a justified one based on the profound performance problems here that must be addressed. Read more Read more ›

PUBG: Blindspot may be a shameless Rainbow Six Siege clone, but that doesn't stop it being extremely fun

PUBG: Blindspot, the first proper PUBG spin-off, is a bit of an oddity. Despite the Steam page for its Next Fest demo saying the game was "inspired by PUBG: Battlegrounds", and has a dinky little PUBG sticker above its logo to prove it's part of the wider PUBG universe, it's pretty clear from the second you choose a character and jump into a 5v5 Demolition match that another game has... 7 things we wish we knew before playing Monster Hunter Wilds

Merry Monster Hunter Wilds day to all those who celebrate. It's a great time to start playing Monster Hunter if you're new to the series, and we've got a whole Monster Hunter Wilds walkthrough to help you every step of... Read more ›
