Former Valve writer hits out at Epic Games layoffs: "It's not like they're a publicly traded company. It's not like there's some need to hit the stock market thing. This is Tim"

Prolific former Valve writer, Chet Faliszek, has hit out at Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney, asking why anyone at Epic "should work hard" when staff have no agency and "the recent 1,000 job cuts didn't come because of shareholder pressure". Read more Read more ›

Sony's PS5 Pro teardown delivers some wonderfully meticulous design trivia

There's little I enjoy more than a console teardown - watching a mainstream piece of consumer electronics dismantled to its core, revealing... well, usually something a lot simpler than you might expect. We've seen people taking apart the PlayStation 5 Pro in the past, but last week, Sony finally revealed its own teardown, sharing a wealth of wonderful incidental detail that gives us some remarkable insights into just how much... Skin Deep review

There's a library in Skin Deep that really isn't screwing around. It's in outer space for one thing, and for another its calm, ordered stacks are protected by fidgety electrical gates that zap you if you're trying to move through them with a book you haven't checked out. Check enough books back in, meanwhile, and you'll be rewarded with a gun. I suspect this place is a librarian's dream. Read... Read more ›

Oblivion Remastered: a crucial patch improves Series X performance - but it's still not good enough

Oblivion Remastered's shadow drop surprised no-one given that it was among the worst kept secrets over the last few weeks, but what did surprise was the sheer extent of its visual overhaul.
