The best 18 Switch games you can play right now

With more than seven years' worth of games to pick from, there's never been a better time to delve into the best Nintendo Switch games. The line-up of games for Nintendo's handheld home console hybrid is arguably the strongest it's ever been, because in case you didn't notice, the Switch continued to flourish last year. Not only did we get a brand new 2D Mario platformer, the fourth mainline Pikmin... Read more ›

Pokémon Go Wigglet spawn locations revealed by fan-made tool

Pokémon Go has quietly added Wigglet, the white-coloured and suspiciously-shaped species similar to Digglet that debuted in Nintendo Switch games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and raised a lot of eyebrows. Wigglet's introduction to Pokémon Go has been unusually low-key, with no official announcement of its appearance in the game on the official site. Still, Niantic has pulled off similar surprise-launches before, and Wigglet's appearance now seems tied to the rollout... Read more ›

Windows 11 prestige handhelds review: Lenovo Legion Go vs OneXPlayer 2 Pro vs AyaNeo Kun

It's time to take another look at a range of Windows-based handhelds and this time, we're testing the most advanced, most powerful hardware on the market right now - the actual big boys of the handheld range - stacking them up against the established frontrunners: Steam Deck (in both LCD and OLED incarnations) and the Asus ROG Ally. Primarily, I looked at three offerings and you'll find their comparative specifications... Read more ›

No Rest For the Wicked early access review - a shaky start, but there’s potential

No Rest for the Wicked feels like a bit of a missing link. In the same way that Salt and Sanctuary bridged a gap between Metroidvanias and the Souls series, No Rest exists as a stop on an imaginary evolutionary journey from Diablo-style action RPGs and the aforementioned Souls both Demonic and Dark. Taking the isometric view and randomised loot from the former, and the exploration and more measured approach... Read more ›

Returning to Fallout 4? These hidden quests are great for veterans and newcomers

I've watched the Fallout Prime series and, like so many others, I have been dragged back into Fallout 4. The only problem is, I've done three playthroughs now - and this makes it hard to enjoy the game when I know how all the quests turn out. Or do I? Unbeknownst to me there were still some I just hadn't found, so this video is from me to you, for... Read more ›

GameCube and Wii emulation on iPhone unlikely - due to technical constraints, rather than piracy concerns

It's unlikely we'll see widespread emulation of GameCube or Wii games via emulators on the iPhone App Store, a new report suggests, despite Apple giving the green light to emulation for games from earlier Nintendo consoles. This isn't because these games are free from copyright, or because of Apple's vague stance that "retro" game emulation is allowed. Instead, this is because of technical limitations, as detailed in a new blog... Read more ›

Assassin's Creed Mirage developers acknowledge its mysterious lore-bending cut post-credits scene

As reported last year, the enjoyable Assassin's Creed Mirage features a seemingly-cut post-credits scene that boasts a huge twist to the franchise's lore. Dataminers discovered the unfinished scene several months ago and pieced what they could together from various files. (We'll remind of you what happens in the scene below, as it's unclear whether this is content Ubisoft ultimately decided against including, or files left lurking within Mirage to be... Read more ›

Final Fantasy 16 is finally complete, though its DLC won't appease critics

Every Final Fantasy fan knows, there's nothing scarier than a Tonberry. Sure, the little green guys look sweet enough with their big shoes and bulging eyes. But let them get close and their knife attack means instant death. In Final Fantasy 16's The Rising Tide DLC, though, Tonberries look more terrifying than ever. In keeping with the game's grim and grounded tone, these creatures now have a more realistic, snake-like... Read more ›

Manor Lords publisher defends lack of transparent pricing, to avoid scammers

Manor Lords releases on Steam in early access tomorrow, but pricing is still yet to be revealed. Tim Bender, CEO of the game's publisher Hooded Horse, took to reddit to defend the decision and explain further why the pricing will only be shared at launch. Garry's Mod ordered to remove all Nintendo content from Steam Workshop

Garry's Mod developer Facepunch Studios has been ordered to remove all Nintendo related items from the Steam Workshop. In a statement on Steam, the developer confirmed the takedown notice is "not a mistake" and came from Nintendo, seemingly referencing fraudulent claims from back in February. "Honestly, this is fair enough," reads the statement. "This is Nintendo's content and what they allow and don't allow is up to them. They don't... Read more ›

Another Crab’s Treasure feels a natural evolution for an underwater Soulslike

I read a horrible theory recently that nature wants to turn lots of things into crabs. I think the theory was basically talking about crustaceans, but the gist of it was, regardless of the evolutionary challenges crustaceans faced, crabbiness seemed to be a preferred answer. The raised body and tail, the flat shell, the lofty pincers. Crabs are OP.And this came to mind when playing Another Crab's Treasure this morning.... Read more ›

Nintendo death threats suspect charged by Japanese police

The man arrested for sending death threats to Nintendo - which resulted in the cancellation of Nintendo Live Tokyo earlier this year - has reportedly been charged by Japanese police. As reported by Japanese newspaper Kyoto Shimbun (thanks VGC), the 27-year-old man, a resident of Hitachi city in Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture, has been charged with the forcible obstruction of business after sending 39 threats using the inquiry form on Nintendo's... Stellar Blade review - no thinking, just slashing

I don't know if there's a universal winning formula for a great action game out there, but Stellar Blade sure has tried its hardest to reverse-engineer one. Like Bayonetta? Here, take an English lady zipping about in heels, annihilating monsters to a delectable soundtrack. Dark Souls fan? Rest at this camp to refill your potions, and better brush up on those parrying and dodging skills! You like God of War?... Read more ›

Manor Lords early access review - beautiful foundations but missing important pieces

There's a confidence to Manor Lords that belies its one-person development, and what's there can be spellbinding, but it's a pastoral idyll that still needs significant development.Yesterday, in between bouts of Manor Lords, I popped down the road to do some food shopping, and bought bread, milk, vegetables, and some other things, then walked home. It took me about 30 minutes all in all, and the whole time I never... Read more ›

The boss of embattled video games publisher Embracer has reflected on a turbulent year for his company which has seen it shed thousands of jobs, shutter numerous development studios, and now - as of this week - ultimately split into three smaller parts. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Embracer CEO said there was a "long list" of things he'd do differently, but that was "easy to look back in hindsight". "I'm sure... Read more ›

Stellar Blade brings old-school console sensibilities to PS5 - with a modern flourish

First shown nearly three years ago under the name Project Eve, the Korean developed Stellar Blade has finally arrived and for me delivers an experience that feels like a proper, complete, polished console game. You see, in this age of incomplete games, buggy launches, and countless promises buried in patch notes, Stellar Blade launches in an impressively complete state. This is an impeccable, gorgeous, and fun action game that perfectly... Read more ›

PUBG is doing a Fortnite and bringing back its original island map

The original PUBG battle royale map Erangel is returning for a limited-time blast of nostalgia. Seven years on from the game's March 2017 debut, the return of Erangel - complete with classic weapon balancing and visuals - follows the temporary return of Fortnite's original island map at the end of last year. PUBG came first, of course, and while battle royales had existed before, it was the game to really... Read more ›
