New fighting game Invincible VS has all the right foundations to be a barn-storming tag-teamer

I have next to no idea what Invincible is. I know of Omni-Man, though only through osmosis and crossovers and such - but that’s the extent of my knowledge. I admit this to one of the developers of Invincible VS when I sat down to play the new game based on the comic book series, just revealed at Xbox’s most recent showcase. Briefly, they look a little crestfallen. Read more Read more ›

Fantasy Life i might be the star of the Switch 2 launch, providing both the Animal Crossing and RPG experience it needs

What a strange and wonderful game. It took me about four hours to pin down what Fantasy Life is, because by turns it's Animal Crossing and then it's a role-playing game, and then it's something else. The form of the game shifts and shimmies during the opening hours as a constant stream of new ideas are introduced, and it's only as they begin to settle that you begin to appreciate... Read more ›

It's already been a lengthy journey for developer Toby Fox's Undertale follow-up Deltarune - the first of its seven planned chapters originally launched in 2018, and there are still three more to go - but we now know fans won't have too long to wait until the saga continues. According to the most recently released chapter's closing credits, part five will arrive next year. Read more Read more ›

Disco Elysium's "reimagined" mobile version is out soon and the first two chapters are free

If you've been considering taking Disco Elysium for another spin (or even a first spin) but want to do it on device small enough you could feasibly play it while, say, spelunking, there's some good news: the "reimagined" mobile version of developer ZA/UM Studio's acclaimed RPG comes to Android devices on 5th August. And if you still need some convincing it'll work on a smaller device, there's even more good... Read more ›

The poor technical state of MindsEye - the debut game from developer Build a Rocket Boy - is well established by this point. The bottom line is that as a £55 or $60 purchase, there is only morbid curiosity in checking it out at present with glaring bugs, low frame-rates and crashes blighting the experience on console. In fact, having tested all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series machines on its... Read more ›

FBC: Firebreak review

On my best runs, with the best accidental match-ups, I've been the watering can guy. I'll deploy alongside two far more talented players, and they'll fix machinery and fight the hordes while I handle the watering. I'll put out ground-based fires to allow for freedom of movement and to stop enemies being enraged by flames. I'll put out any fires on my allies when they accidentally set light to themselves,...
