Amazon isn't closing MMO New World right away, but it won't guarantee the life of the game past 2026

I imagine the biggest question people who've put hundreds or thousands of hours into Amazon's MMO New World have right now is: are all my efforts about to be wiped? Is the game about to go offline, and close? Read more Read more ›

30 years later, I've finally played a Simon the Sorcerer game - was it always this naff?

Permit me to take you on a journey back to 1994. As I've mentioned before, it was the year my parents finally relented (after a whole lot of nagging about how vitally important Microsoft Encarta would undoubtedly be to my future career prospects) and the benevolent PC gods squatted upon our household to birth a 486 DX2/66 into the world. But of course it was never about Encarta. Within days,... Read more ›

Please tell me I'm not the only person who plays horror games on mute?

Maybe this is another getting old thing, but my tolerance for stress and tension in horror is not what it used to be. I grew up watching classic horror from the 80s, I relished the dawn of survival horror on consoles, and read an awful lot of Stephen King and James Herbert when I was probably far too young. These days I'll be lucky to get through an episode of... Read more ›

I’ve tested hundreds of keyboards and the 20-year-old classic Das Keyboard has held up better than any - how do modern ones compare?

Das Keyboard were one of the first companies to bring mechanicals to a wider audience, especially in their native America, and today we're looking... Read more ›

As its original devs post conflicting takes on the controversial remake, I have to ask: who is Halo: Campaign Evolved for?

I love Halo. When I was a teenager, I used to work in a kitchen, under a Michelin-starred chef and his ex-con sous. Hard work, poor money. One night, after a late and messy shift, the sous took me back to his place for a beer and some decompression time, and booted up his Xbox 360 and Halo 3. I had never played an FPS before, somehow, and I'd never... Read more ›

Two weeks from release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 isn't in Steam's top 150 wishlisted games. Is it time for Activison to worry?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 currently has less wishlists on Steam than the Palworld dating sim. It's ranked 173rd as of writing, behind the Killer Bean game at 73rd, and the Gothic remake in 17th place. Battlefield 6 seems to be hogging the spotlight right now, and with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 set to come out in roughly two weeks, should Treyarch and Activision Blizzard be worried?... Read more ›
