Knights in Tight Spaces brings fantasy RPG trappings to a Roguelike core, and they make a significant difference

I liked Fights in Tight Spaces. It mashed together two things I'm fond of: Roguelike deck-builders and badass secret agents. FITS gave me a turn-based experience that made me feel like Jason Bourne, punching and kicking and weaving my way around enemies on cramped battlefields. I stepped around their punches and redirected them back at them. I slammed their heads into walls and tables. I dodged bullets - whoa. I... Read more ›

Something titled New World: Aeternum has been spotted on the PlayStation Store, setting tongues wagging ahead of an expected announcement tonight. Developed by Amazon Games, New World originally launched for PC in 2021, and is still yet to arrive on consoles. Watch Ian try out the Steam Next Fest demo for WWI survival horror game, Conscript

You've got to love Steam Next Fest. The video team has already put together a list of its must-play Steam Next Fest demos, but there's just so many new and exciting demos to try that we couldn't fit them all into one listicle! Well, OK, I guess we could have done, but that would have been one very long list video indeed...For today's livestream, I will be taking a look... Read more ›

Dystopika is a toy for making cyberpunk cities and it's rad

Dystopika is a city-building toy, but it's also a place. It's a place loading before you drop your first superscraper in or pan the camera to frame the luminous smog of the eternal sunset. Just start the game up and there's a sense of urban life twinkling in the darkness, while the soundtrack moans and warps and chatters to itself. Dystopika is already here. It can feel complete before you've... Read more ›

Post Trauma is a survival horror that stubbornly refuses to give you any answers, and I like that a lot

There's a hand reaching out of the toilet in the women's lavatory, groping around in the air like it wants something. It's freaky - this whole place is freaky. It's a hospital ward overrun by a fleshy, otherworldly infestation of... something. Doors are obstructed by fleshy vines and huge fleshy pipes bulge intermittently with the passing of something within. Darkness and malice tinges the air. I'm reminded quite strongly of... Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee is getting remaster

Yooka-Laylee, the Banjo-Kazooie-inspired platform collect-'em-up from developer Playtonic Games, is getting a bit of a spruce-up for PC and unspecified consoles by way of a newly announced (and dubiously named) remaster, Yooka-Replaylee. The original Yooka-Laylee launched back in 2017, garnering modest acclaim - Eurogamer called it a "gentle, irreverent platformer let down by spotty handling and a slight shortage of genius" - and was followed by a far superior side-scrolling...
