TLDR: This ProWritingAid Bundle comes with the AI-powered ProWritingAid app plus access to courses, coaching, and other material from the ProWritingAid Academy, all for $199.99. Volvo’s sleek concept car teases its new EV design language

To date, Volvo’s electric models have been using conventional automobile architecture designed for internal combustion engines. In other words, EVs look like petrol-powered cars. But now the Swedish car maker is ready to update its own design language and philosophy, and introduce us to next generation electric vehicles. On Wednesday, the company unveiled the Volvo Concept Recharge SUV and, boy, is it elegant and beautiful. Designed to be the “manifesto”... Read more â€ș

Watch out Python, Julia is coming for your crown

Don’t get me wrong. Python’s popularity is still backed by a rock-solid community of computer scientists, data scientists and AI specialists. But if you’ve ever been at a dinner table with these people, you also know how much they rant about the weaknesses of Python. From being slow to requiring excessive testing, to producing runtime errors despite prior testing — there’s enough to be pissed off about. Which is why... Read more â€ș

Twitter is giving away 140 free NFTs — here’s how to get one

Twitter’s into NFTs now. But that’s not surprising given the CEO Jack Dorsey is super interested in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. But the firm’s not trying to making money from NFTs yet. It’s simply giving away 140 of them for free. Twitter posted seven tweets yesterday showing off these pieces of digital art — so 20 copies of each are going for no cost. 140 free NFTs for 140 of... Florida’s dumb law to punish social networks for banning politicians is dead

For a hot second, Florida-based politicians were jumping with joy at the sight of a law that punished social media companies for banning politicians. But now, a federal judge has put a hold on it. According to NBC News, Judge Robert Hinkle blocked the law — just before it was scheduled to come into effect today. He said that the law would violate the free speech rights of social media... China and EU beat up the hell out of the US in EV production

Despite the fact that American giants like GM, Ford, and Tesla have bet big on the production of electric vehicles, the US is still lagging behind in the EV market. This is confirmed in the latest report by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT). Unsurprisingly, China is the largest electric vehicle producer and makes up nearly half (44%) of the global EV production through 2020, with 4.6 million units... Read more â€ș

What we know about Instagram’s plan to beat YouTube and TikTok

Instagram is already a popular social network with more than 1 billion active users. But with TikTok’s ballooning growth, the firm is now thinking of moving out of its “photo-sharing app” silo. Last night, Instagram‘s chief, Adam Mosseri, said in a video that the company is now building features focusing on creators, video, shopping, and messaging. Mosseri added that people now use Instagram “to be entertained.” He also acknowledged the... How to make almost any digital piano sound like the real thing

There’s a reason digital pianos are so popular: most people either can’t afford the real thing, or they can’t fit them into their homes. Unfortunately, most digital pianos pale in comparison to even the most basic acoustic ones, with wimpy speakers and lackluster built-in sounds. This is unfortunate; even for beginners, having a quality piano tone can inspire you to keep practicing and get better. But what if I told... Read more â€ș

AI study claims tennis is the most ‘euphoric’ sport. I’m not convinced

If you’re captivated by the drama of the European Football Championship, have you considered watching Wimbledon instead? Tennis is, after all, a more euphoric sport to watch. Or so claims a new AI analysis. The study by British TV platform Freeview explored emotional reactions to different sports by analyzing the expressions of viewers. The 150 participants were sent content from 10 sports consisting of 30,750 frames, which were standardized to... Read more â€ș

Wild new theory says the Big Bang wasn’t the beginning

The prevailing theory on the origin of our universe goes like this: about 13.7 billion years ago a single particle exploded. The resultant blast created an ever-expanding universe that, eventually, became home to the planet we call Earth. The Big Bang theory first appeared in a scientific paper in 1931. Physicist Georges Lemaitre is credited with its creation. And the bulk of our assumptions about the universe and its rate... Read more â€ș

Mars probe captures groundbreaking new images of the red planet’s discrete aurora

It isn’t only the USA and China that are exploring Mars. The UAE has captured new images of the red planet’s discrete aurora, which could deepen our understanding of the interactions between solar radiation, Mars’ magnetic fields, and the planetary atmosphere. Up front:  The images were taken by the Mars Hope Probe’s EMUS (Emirates Mars Ultraviolet Spectrometer) instrument, and show a ghostly glow known as the discrete aurora. The pictures... A hacker cracked the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department and stole 70,000 emails, including many which led to some serious embarrassment and questions about the department. Meanwhile, two years’ worth of emails from several City of Chicago employees were also stolen recently as authorities try to determine the... Read more â€ș

The world needs a unified approach to dealing with cyberattacks

Cyber-warfare consists of co-ordinated attacks of mass disruption (AMD). In the June summit between U.S. and Russian presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, cyber-warfare was a topic of discussion. While the Biden-Putin summit appears to be “quite constructive,” cyberwarfare remains perplexing to politicians. Attacks of mass disruption are similar to the latest ransomware attacks on SolarWinds and Colonial Pipeline — imagine several co-ordinated similar attacks. For the time being, organizations...
