Do you really need Google Drive’s new desktop app?

Google finally did it. The company is merging two apps for Drive into one, instead of launching another one to confuse the heck out of people. The apps in question are the Google Drive desktop appand Backup and Sync tool. Google is bundling these apps into one, along with some features from an old enterprise app called Google Drive Stream. The Backup and Sync app was launched before the Google... Read more â€ș

Hands-on: LeMond’s carbon fiber ebikes are lightweight works of art

Aesthetics are supposedly subjective, but I’ll be darned if LeMond’s new ebikes aren’t the most beautiful electric bikes I’ve ever ridden. If you’re into cycling, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the name Greg LeMond. With his racing days behind him, the three-time Tour de France winner has a couple of forays into making ‘acoustic’ bikes, but the most recent iteration of LeMond Bikes go the electrified route —... I’m loving the new Rocksmith beta, but definitely not uninstalling RS2014 yet

Ubisoft‘s holding a closed beta for its new Rocksmith title and I managed to get in on it. After a few hours checking out the new interface and game engine, I’m impressed. But I won’t be uninstalling Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered anytime soon. The new game’s called Rocksmith+. But from here on out I’m just going to call it the new Rocksmith because adding a symbol to a game’s name... Read more â€ș

Watch Richard Branson’s ego trip to edge of space

Sir Richard Branson has bagged some major bragging rights at the billionaire’s club. The tax exile has pipped Jeff Bezos to the title of first billionaire in space. You can watch the monumental ego trip in the video atop this article. Branson’s 1.5-hour journey reached an apex of around 89kms — just above NASA’s benchmark for granting astronaut wings. The Virgin Galactic founder then spent a few minutes pointlessly floating... Read more â€ș

Our universe may have a doppelganger full of white holes and black stars

Einstein and other early proponents of quantum mechanics felt strongly that black holes, somehow, were the key to solving the whole
universe problem. How did the universe get here? When did it get here? How big is it? What’s it made of? Unfortunately, our position in the cosmos makes it difficult to answer any of those questions. We’re stuck here about 1,500 light years away from the nearest black hole.... Read more â€ș

EA hypes new AI tech in FIFA 22, but I expect another glorified update

If Euro 2020 broke your heart, EA is offering a rebound relationship: a new edition of FIFA with an AI-powered gameplay overhaul. The gaming giant is heavily plugging the so-called “HyperMotion” tech, which uses motion capture and machine learning to generate new graphics. The system was unveiled on Sunday in a shaky cam trailer for FIFA 22, which is out on October 1. HyperMotion integrates motion capture of 22 professional... Read more â€ș

Ugh, I wish this portable EV charger concept was already a reality

EVs are booming, but range anxiety is still holding drivers back from making the switch to electric power. But what if there was a portable fast charger than could juice up an EV anywhere, anytime? I’d say that could convince even the most skeptical crowd. Aiming to shake up how people think of electric vehicle ownership, designer Chang Joong Lee has created a concept portable charger called the “A-monite.”  Credit:... Read more â€ș

Here’s how developers can implement the Google Translate API in their apps

Even if most of us can’t travel as we once did, the world is a more accessible place, at least online. Business people may not be attending international conferences or flying around the world for meetings so much. But in many respects, businesses are finding that they can access and develop foreign markets by localizing their websites and apps to speak the language of locals and adapt to their standards.... A highly underrated topic of discussion is how to choose the right keyboard to buy. Why you shouldn’t trust Tesla’s latest Full Self Driving beta update

Elon Musk had initially promised the fabled Full Self-Driving Beta version 9 back in August 2018. And then again in 2019. Well, if you’re a Tesla fan, you already know that none of these commitments were fulfilled. What’s a suborbital flight? An aerospace engineer explains

“Suborbital” is a term you’ll be hearing a lot as Sir Richard Branson flies aboard Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity winged spaceship and Jeff Bezos flies aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard vehicle to touch the boundary of space and experience a few minutes of weightlessness. But what exactly is “suborbital”? Simply put, it means that while these vehicles will cross the ill-defined boundary of space, they will not be going fast... Read more â€ș
