UK startup launches ‘world’s first’ AI deepfake-detecting browser

UK startup Surf Security has launched a beta version of what it claims is the world’s first browser with a built-in feature designed to spot AI-generated deepfakes.  The tool, available through Surf’s browser or as an extension, can detect with up to 98% accuracy whether the person you’re interacting with online is a real human or an AI imitation, the company said.  The London-based cybersecurity upstart uses “military-grade” neural network... New €2M fund launches for Dutch early-stage tech startups

A group of six entrepreneurs and angel investors have announced today the launch of their first fund, aiming to support Dutch early-stage tech startups. Named the Dutch Operator Fund I, it has raised €2mn in capital. Netherlands hits Uber with €290M fine for transfer of ‘sensitive’ driver data to US

The Dutch data protection authority (DPA) has hit Uber with a €290mn fine for transferring personal European driver data to the US. Tallinn startup bags €2.3M to turn CO2 into ‘critical’ graphite for EV batteries

Up Catalyst has closed a €2.36mn seed extension round to accelerate the development of an industrial pilot reactor that turns CO2 emissions into carbon materials. TSMC’s first chip factory in Europe gets €5B state aid from Germany
